Pear is a three-platform ecosystem that connects designers, engineers, and creators to rebuild their careers after the 2023 tech layoffs.
the Problem
Everyone dreams of building a meaningful career, but breaking in often requires experience that's hard to come by without already having a foot in the door. This catch-22 becomes even more frustrating after a setback like a 2023 layoff, especially in a job market this competitive. So how do you gain the experience needed to get hired when getting hired is the only way to gain that experience?
the Solution
Based on my experience, collaborating with others who share the same goals as you, despite having no professional experience, will help you gain experience in your desired field/role. My platforms allow users to gain experience in their desired roles through collaboration and entrepreneurship. My platforms target people who want to become more experienced designers, engineers, marketers, and content creators. From inexperienced to highly experienced, users will be paired without bias with others who want to create together.

One Name, Two Platforms
Inspired by the core concept of collaboration in a tech space, I came up with the name “Pear” and made its first logo: Pear Innovations. The name was a parody of and inspired by Apple Inc, and Pear was the chosen fruit to represent the company brand because of its cleverly marketable homonym to “pair”.
The Welcome Kit
Each member will receive a sustainably packaged welcome kit to prepare them for their dream career. The Designers of Pear Innovations will get the white welcome kit, and the Engineers of Pear Innovations will get the black welcome kit. The Marketers of Pear Entertainment will get the white welcome kit, and the Content Creators of Pear Entertainment will get the orange welcome kit. If anything runs out, members can purchase refills or other merchandise on our online store.

Sponsorships & Partnerships
We’ll get funding from pitching our idea to Y-Combinator and business competitions, like Little Bang! and Shark Tank.
We’ll also “pear up” with Apple—we’ll give them experienced employees, and they supply the technology for our members to use.
